According to Ant Dureau, the interim chief customer officer at Sky New Zealand, the goal of the campaign is to enhance the overall Sky experience through the new Sky Box. The TVC highlights the thrilling moments that Sky offers, from sports events like All Blacks rugby matches to glamorous premieres, seamlessly transitioning into the diverse entertainment content available on Sky. The immersive nature of the ad demonstrates the user-friendly interface of the new Sky Box, making it easy for customers to explore and enjoy the content.
Directed by James Anderson, the commercial is a technical masterpiece that captures the sense of control provided by the new Sky Box. The use of a POV camera guides viewers through different settings, emphasizing the convenience of accessing apps and Sky content. Anderson and director of photography Chris Watkins meticulously planned each sequence to bring the unique concept to life, using a custom helmet rig and state-of-the-art camera equipment to achieve a cinematic look.
Reel Factory’s company director, Dan Watkins, expressed appreciation for the collaboration with Sky New Zealand, highlighting the opportunity to film at a live All Blacks game at Eden Park. The behind-the-scenes effort involved in creating the immersive experience included Watkins wearing a 14kg helmet rig for two full days of shooting to ensure that every shot captured the essence of a realistic POV perspective.
