Perth’s fashion enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Bindaring Clothes Sale at Claremont Showground, a popular shopping event known for offering a wide array of boutique, designer, second-hand, and vintage clothing at affordable prices. The sale, which supports the Red Cross, is a highly anticipated annual affair that attracts a diverse crowd of shoppers looking to score top designer labels without breaking the bank.
Event coordinator, Althea Mahon, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming community support this year, with donations surpassing the usual amount of eight tons of clothing. The generosity of donors has led to an abundance of clothing items, prompting Mahon and her team of dedicated volunteers to work tirelessly in sorting, washing, and preparing the garments for the sale day.
Now in its 62nd year, the Bindaring Clothes Sale is a volunteer-run initiative aimed at raising funds for essential community services. What started as a small gathering among friends has evolved into a significant fundraising event that not only benefits the community but also promotes sustainability by diverting clothes from ending up in landfills.
The sale’s primary goal is to raise funds to clothe families affordably, with the aim of outfitting a family for just $50. To achieve this, the organizers have maintained low prices ranging from $2 to $8, ensuring that shoppers can leave with multiple items without breaking the bank.
Amid the vast selection of clothing on offer are pieces from renowned fashion houses, including coveted labels like YSL, Gucci, Armani, Chloe, Givenchy, and many more. With a dedicated designer collection featuring high-end items starting at $75, shoppers can expect to find treasures from iconic brands at a fraction of their retail prices.
In the spirit of giving back, any unsold clothing from the sale will be donated to organizations such as Mission Australia and UWA students in need, ensuring that every item finds a new home. The meticulous organization of clothing into five distinct categories—Op-shop, Menswear, Emporium, Boutique, and Designer—ensures a seamless shopping experience for attendees seeking specific items at varying price points.
The Bindaring Clothes Sale is scheduled to take place on May 24 at Claremont Showground’s Robinson Pavilion from 9 am to 3 pm. Entry to the event is free, offering fashion enthusiasts and bargain hunters alike the opportunity to explore a diverse range of clothing options while supporting a charitable cause.
