Leading Australian fashion designers and key industry figures recently gathered at the Sydney Opera House to show their support for Australian Fashion Week (AFW) after IMG announced it would no longer fund the event. IMG’s ownership of AFW since 2005 has been pivotal in providing a platform for Australian designers to showcase their creativity globally.
Following IMG’s withdrawal, the Australian Fashion Council stepped in to ensure the event’s continuity by taking over the management for 2025. Marianne Perkovic, Chair of the Australian Fashion Council, emphasized the organization’s dedication to supporting AFW through a proposed not-for-profit model, highlighting the significance of the event in promoting Australian fashion on the world stage.
