The National Indigenous Fashion Awards 2025 recently took place at the Deckchair Cinema in Darwin, hosted by Megan Waters on Larrakia Country. The ceremony, organized by Indigenous Fashion Projects, aimed to recognize and honor the outstanding achievements and creativity of Australian First Nations individuals in the fashion and textiles industry.
Among the winners was Melissa Greenwood from Miimi & Jiinda, who received the business achievement award. Rhonda Sharpe of Yarrenyty Arltere Artists was recognized for her exceptional textile design skills. Cindy Rostron was honored with the Cecilia Cubillo young achiever award, while Cleonie Quayle took home the wearable art award.
Rena Ngalinggama Guyula from Gapuwiyak Culture and Arts was the recipient of the traditional adornment award, and Clair Helen Parker was acknowledged for her remarkable work in fashion design. The community collaboration award was presented to Jilamara Arts and Crafts Association and Tiwi Artists for their outstanding collaborative efforts.
Additionally, the Djilpin Arts artists’ collaboration with Kate Sale & Fiona Gavino received the highly commended award at the ceremony. The event also featured special guest Honourable Jinson Anto Charls.
